How We Collect a Hair Sample

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW AT LEAST 24 HOURS PRIOR TO COLLECTION

STEP 1

Fill out the health intake form and we will contact you to schedule your initial consultation with Dr. Robert Selig.

We will send you a hair test kit and postage to send the test to our lab once completed.

*Depending on the state of your health, we may recommend additional tests as each person's health concerns are different. However, each patient is required to complete a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis as a basis to help us see the state of your current health.

STEP 2

After receiving your hair test kit, please follow the instructions included.

You may begin by washing your hair with regular shampoo.

Do not use any of the following: hair conditioner, hairspray, hair gel, or dandruff shampoo. 

If you wash your hair regularly with dandruff shampoo, wash your hair at least twice (can be twice in a row in the same shower session).  

(The minerals in dandruff shampoo can alter the results of the HTMA test.)

If you highlight, dye, or perm your hair, be sure to collect your hair sample before the treatment or after you have washed your hair five or more times. 

Dry your hair and do not put anything in it.

STEP 3

After washing your hair, wait at least 4 hours before sampling but no more than 24 hours.

STEP 4

Follow the easy instructions provided in the kit. Make sure to use a clean pair of scissors that have not been used on hair treated by chemicals. 

We only need about 1 to 1.5 inches of hair and your kit will give you specific instructions on what is needed.

Cut hair as close to the scalp as possible. 

The hair closest to the scalp has the newest information.

STEP 5

Place the hair sample in a clean envelope (provided by the lab) and include all necessary information. Upon review, Dr. Selig will contact you to set up an appointment to discuss your results and which treatment plan is best suited to improve your chronic health condition(s).
